SWORD

SWORD, our surveillance, warning, obstacle ranging and display system, uses active LADAR and eye-safe laser radar that is not visible to night vision goggles to provide “look into the turn” capability. SWORD has the ability to detect obstacles such as wires, towers, and terrain as far away as 1800 meters. It also provides a minimum eight-second warning if it appears that an obstacle will become a threat. SWORD builds and stores a downloadable terrain database of the entire flight including any obstacles.
