Degraded Visual Environment
Landing helicopters in remote, unfamiliar, dusty areas is a hazard helicopter crews routinely face.
Identifying obstacles in the landing zone and landing with no lateral drift are two critical tasks that crews must properly accomplish. These tasks become especially difficult during degraded visual environment (DVE) landings such as brownout, whiteout, and sea spray conditions.

Elbit Systems of America® is at the leading edge of research into technologies that will enable helicopter crews to overcome DVE. Some technologies are active sensor-based and some are passive. Presently the U.S. Army is evaluating our Helmet Display and Tracker System with our unique 3D symbology at the Army test labs in Huntsville, Alabama.
