Following Jimmy Doolittle’s famed “blind flight,” Kollsman, now Elbit Systems of America® Commercial Aviation – Kollsman, went on to become a world leader in the development and production of a wide range of high-quality, reliable flight instruments. Our avionics have a long and distinguished history in the development, manufacture, and certification of avionics instruments for commercial and military aircraft. Elbit Systems of America® has supplied instruments to virtually every major commercial and military airframe manufacturer in the western world. Our customer list includes every commercial airline as well. Since establishment of the company in 1928, Elbit Systems of America® has produced literally hundreds of thousands of altimeters, airspeed indicators, standby instruments, and an endless variety of other air data systems. Many thousands of these instruments are still operating today and will continue to do so for many years to come. Our current product line still includes production of many air data instruments whose design is based on the fundamental technology first demonstrated by Paul Kollsman more than 80 years ago. Current production instruments, as well as a long list of those which are no longer in production, will continue to be supported by Elbit Systems of America®’s well established worldwide network of repair and overhaul facilities, including the FAA-certified facility at our campus in Merrimack, NH.
